Summary of the Iraqi Resistance Activities 12/ 04-10 /03

Summary of the Iraqi Resistance Activities

From 4th to 10th of December 2003

IN THE NAME OF GOD MOST MERCIFUL
MOST COMPASSIONATE

( Fight them: God will punish them at your hands, and will humiliate
them, and will help you to overcome them, and will relive the minds of
the believers of fear and distress) The Holy Quran - Surait ALTAUBA
Verse 14

Along with their miserably perished vipers, rested the fatal destiny
of the American- Zionist hammer upon the remarkable striving
stead-fasting rock of the valiant Iraqi resistance, the hammer that
could not provide them with safe haven, neither the flattening of
homes upon the heads of their inhabitants, nor the leveling-off of
thousands upon thousands of acres of abundant orchids, planted with
palm trees and various fruits in the liberal giver land, could have
aborted the persistence of the relentless resistance campaign. Such
deeds are similarly carried out on daily bases by the Zionist
occupation forces in Palestine. The wave of arresting, searching, and
genocide that are practiced daily throughout Iraq by the American
occupation forces could by no means terrorize the will of the great
Iraqi people to vanquish the enemy, on the contrary however, the
resistance activates have escalated and mercilessly intensified.
Moreover, the diversifying of their targets, their tactics, and their
accuracy in inflicting harm on the oppressive invasion forces were
clearly evident.
For the very first time this week, two American helicopters and one
cargo plane were shot down by the valorous Mujahideen, their heroism
emerges in their intensive suicidal activities which deprived the
American forces and their agents of peace and security, who have
already started to clear out the tenements and homes in their places
of exile in Britain and America!.

Despite all efforts of media suppression, and the restriction and
hindering of press teams to follow up the performance and activities
of the heroic Mujahideen, which have exceeded 50 typical operations a
day, yet the fragrance of their heroism insisting on penetrating the
invincible walls of the American siege to unveil the reality of what's
happing through broadcasting and other means of communications to the
world " The witness who is silent on truth" to be evidence for history
against the cowards, and the traitors of their country, to a judgment
they see it far-off and we see it near by the willing , power and
succor of Allah.

"End of Summary"

Interview: Iraqi Resistance front to be proclaimed soon

Iraqi Resistance front to be proclaimed soon
After the arrest of Saddam resistance will intensify and unite even
more, says Jabbar al Kubaysi

Jabbar al Kubaysi is leader of the Iraqi Patriatic Alliance which
strives to unify the Iraqi resistance movement into a common political
National Resistance and Liberation Front.

Anti-imperialist Camp: What are your comments on the arrest of Saddam
Hussein?

Jabbar al Kubaysi: It was obvious that Saddam was under the influence
of drugs being given to him in blatant violation of basic human
rights. According to my information Saddam had already been captured
two weeks earlier. The occupying powers used the time to prepare him
und to figure out the media spectacle we have been fed. Without the
help of Iranian intelligence the arrest would not have been possible.
Often Iranian servicemen appear in Kurdish uniforms.

AC: The participation of Kurdish Peshmergas at the arrest was
astonishing given the fact that Tikrit is an entirely Arab town?

JK: The Kurdish leadership is in full-fledged alliance with the US
occupiers, who use them as cheap infantry. If one moves only some
dozen kilometers to the north of Baghdad, road blocks are manned with
Kurdish soldiers who carry out the searches while American soldiers
command. This is not new but was established right with the occupation.

AC: Will the arrest of Saddam Hussein result in a setback for the
resistance?

JK: No, on the contrary, within a few weeks you will already see a
further strengthening of the resistance movement. For some Baathists
it might be a temporary disappointment. Although Saddam did not exert
any command function he still represented the one-man rule and the
dominance of his family clan. Many party members who until now
remained passive for that reason now will join the resistance. As the
fragmentation of the Baath party reached its final stage, everyone was
making decisions upon his own without waiting for the command chain,
which anyway was no longer operative since the collapse of the regime.

Regarding the Islamic currents, an important pretext [they had] of not
co-operating with other resistance forces is gone. Many remembered the
rule of Saddam and were reluctant to collaborate with suspected
followers of their former enemy. The Islamic leaders might continue to
employ this argument but now it has definitively lost ground. So the
different currents of the resistance will move closer together and
thus further gain momentum.

AC: Is it possible that Saddam will capitulate like Abdullah Öcalan did?

JK: Definitely no. The pictures the Americans released shown him as a
machine deprived of his will by medication. But whenever he seemed to
be in control of himself he refused co-operation with his torturers.

AC: What you think about the trial the US heralded to set up against
Saddam Hussein?

JK: This is pure propaganda. There is no legal judicial system in Iraq
whatsoever. The occupation is illegal, as are all the judges installed
by Paul Bremer. The people will not respect them. How can a convicted
criminal like the US puppet Ahmed Chalabi, who has stolen millions of
dollars, pretend to exert jurisdiction? Ridiculous! Anyway, they will
not dare to conduct even a faked trial without thorough preparations
and falsifications, which will require at least a year or so. They
fear that Saddam will reveal a lot of secrets contradicting their
propaganda lies.

AC: How did your efforts to form a resistance front evolve?

JK: After months of intensive talks we will be able to proclaim the
resistance front within a few weeks. We are already about to finalize
the programmatic declaration. The main elements will be: 1) The
liberation of Iraq from occupation and the complete withdrawal of all
foreign troops even if they might been mandated by the UN. 2) Any
Iraqi authority set up by the occupiers, namely Bremer's so-called
Governing Council, is illegitimate, rejected and fought against. 3)
Collaboration with the occupants will be banned. Policemen and other
people in the service of the occupants will be asked to quit. 4) The
Anglo-American aggressors must pay reparations. 5) The resistance
front strives to build a democratic government.

AC: What about a democratic and anti-imperialist constituent assembly?

JK: This is still an open matter to be discussed.

AC: Which currents are inside the front?

JK: Beside our Iraqi Patriotic Alliance there are different national
democratic forces like for example the Nasserists led by Dr. Omar
Nadmi and Subhi Abdul Hamid, Iraq our House of Abdel Latif al
Mailmayah or the Iraqi Independent Gathering chaired by Engineer
Khaled al Maini. There is also the Islamic Committee directed by Dr.
Harith al Aldari. The negotiations with a break-away group of the
Communist Party in the mid 60s, called ICP (Central Command) led by
Ibrahim Allawi are close to a positive result.

AC: What about the group of Muqtada al Sader? Did he capitulate?

JK: No, capitulation is too strong. The tremendous Iranian pressure
makes him hesitate. I do not only speak about the political pressure
exerted by Tehran but also about the direct presence of thousands and
thousands Iranian agents mainly in the East and the South of the
country. We had two meetings with Muqtada and he claimed that he will
resist the occupation peacefully. That means that he opposes the
military resistance. But nobody can believe that the US can be
convinced without armed self-defense. What does legal means mean in a
situation of illegal occupation? Our armed resistance is entirely
legal according to international law and the UN charter, and also to
Islamic law and our national values. We will never accept orders to
disarm ourselves and to limit us to toothless peaceful action as
Muqtada claims. However, we will go on trying to convince him.

AC: Are there any Shia religious groups inside the front?

JK: No, for the time being there aren't although the group of the
deceased Sheikh al Madani agreed to join. But as their leaders, the
two brothers of the Sheikh, have been arrested by the US occupiers,
their followers hesitate. Furthermore we have many single religious
authorities and sheiks. They have considerable influence. However, it
would be wrong to present them as Shia religious political groups.
Their place is vacant and we will continue our efforts without waiting
for them.

AC: Is the Baath party also inside the front?

JK: There is no official representation of the party as they are all
occupied by hiding themselves. But many members joined the front or
support it.

AC: And Kurdish forces?

JK: What is happening in the Kurdish areas is unbelievable. The
collaboration with the Americans does not only affect the leadership
but big parts of the population as well. This explains why we could
not find a Kurdish force to join the resistance front though we tried.
Our doors are still open.

AC: Many anti-war activists as well as many Arabs set their hope on
France and Germany. What balance sheet do you draw about their role?

JK: We have to base our liberation struggle entirely upon our people
and on the solidarity of the people's movements in the Arab world and
elsewhere. The European government might have not agreed to the US's
unilateral aggression but they are definitely not interested to
support our resistance struggle. Look to [French President Jacques]
Chirac. He officially received [Secretary General of the Kurdistan
Patriotic Union] Jalal Talabani and [member of the Supreme Council of
the Islamic revolution in Iraq] Al Hakim, those traitors who
co-operate with the occupants. We will never forget that. [German
Chancellor Gerhardt] Schröder is no better. He congratulated the US
president on the capture of another president. Why he did not protest
against this illegal and criminal act? Because we are a Third World
county refused our right to self-determination and sovereignty.

AC: What message do you want to send to the anti-war movement?

JK: A few days ago there was the anti-war conference in Cairo against
the occupation. However, the Iraqi speaking there did not fully
endorse the resistance. The very same man had met the Japanese prime
minister who is about to dispatch troops to Iraq. In the meeting he
affirmed that those who killed the two Japanese diplomats were
criminals. This is not acceptable. All occupation forces and their
aides are legitimate targets of the resistance. In order to save
themselves they have to leave our country otherwise they will be
subject to armed attacks. In general the congress called to leave the
past behind and start a new period. But how can we forget the
aggression, the invasion and the occupation. All our politics start
from that very fact. I ask the anti-war movement to take sides.
Neutrality is not possible. We will continue fighting until our
homeland is liberated. This is our right and our duty. Those who
really are for peace and justice have to accept our right to
self-determination and must support the resistance. All the others do
help in one way or another the imperialist enemy.

AC: And to the Arab people?

JK: We know that the vast majority of the Arab people backs the
resistance in Iraq as well as in Palestine as we are all sons of the
same nation. The resistance will continue to grow and to unify our
people. We will fight together until the invaders have left.

AC: Will you we able to receive an international solidarity delegation
in support of the resistance?

JK: Yes, indeed. We invite all the honest anti-war activists to
express their solidarity. In coming to occupied Iraq they can only
choose the occupants or the resistance. There is no other side.

Al.Ahmar, Assistant Secretary General of the (BASP), Dr. Muhammad
Zuhair Masharqa , Vice president, Dr. Muhammad Al.Abrash, Chief of the

presence for people and a decisive belief in their abilities .
Besides, it presents for them a good democratic environment .

and the Arab occupied lands and restore the extorted rights. That is
why Syria abides to the principles of just and comprehensive peace
based on the International Legitimacy resolutions and Madrid peace
conference terms of reference and the principle of land for peace .
Syria considers such peace to be the sole real peace that can last in
the region .
Syria also defends her rights and occupied territories in Palestine

in their struggle to liberate their lands and restore their
sovereignty over their lands and resources.

professional union also made their speech in the festival.

Interview: “Iraqi Communist Party’s support of embargo is crime”

"Iraqi Communist Party's support of embargo is crime"
Interview with Ahmed Karim, National Democratic Communist Movement of Iraq

Authorised interview with Ahmed Karim, leader of the National
Democratic Communist Movement founded in 2001. Karim is of Kurdish
origin and has been member of the Iraqi Communist Party (ICP) since
1954. Most of his life he has been representative for the party in
Eastern European countries leading the party's radio broadcasting
services.

Q: How would you characterise the Iraqi Communist Party of today?
The ICP is an opportunist party indirectly helping imperialism. Its
leadership has switched sides and want the war in order to topple
Saddam. But you cannot say that it has turned altogether into a
reactionary force. The leadership is not prepared to guide the
membership. They do not function as a party, they are not inside the
country but abroad or in Kurdistan. They have no activity inside, they
are simply sleeping. If we once will return we need to conduct a
conference electing a new leadership truly representing all tendencies
of the party.

Q: How can you think that such a party which supported the crime of
the decade long embargo can be reformed?
There were three major crimes. First the embargo, second the support
to Iran during the war and third the destruction of the party. But
still I believe it is possible to recuperate the party and build a new
leadership.

Q: How did your opposition develop?
In 1986 there was large criticism within the ranks of the party and we
founded the newspaper "Al Manber" (Tribune). The oppositional views
were regarding the unclear position of the leadership in the war with
Iran. Originally we all shared the opposition against the war which we
considered as an aggression, instigated by the US, on a people with
whom we have to seek friendship. We called upon both sides to end the
war. But from the moment onwards Iranian troops entered Iraqi
territory, the position had to be adjusted. We had to defend our
country as long as it was occupied by foreign troops. We asked Hamid
Moussa, today first secretary, how he could support the reactionary
regime of Khomeini? They thought the Iranians would topple Saddam but
he revealed to be stronger. I remember one member of the Central
Committee as saying that we have to prefer occupation to Saddam. The
same they apply now with regard to the Americans. They have completely
forgotten what colonial occupation meant to our people fifty years ago.
However, in 1991 during the American aggression, the "Tribune"
vanished as many of the editorial staff adapted themselves to the new
situation, became more and more opportunist and some even very rich.

Q: Does your opposition movement have something to do with the split
of the ICP of 1967?
No, as this group let by Aziz al Hadsch was completely extinguished.
In order to understand this schism we have to go back in 63. In the
aftermath of the Baathist coup d'etat the leadership of the party got
killed and since then the party had been wavering. While the leading
group of the CC had been advocating from 64 onwards to join the ranks
of Arif, we were about to prepare the seizure of power. We were
infiltrating the state apparatus, the media, the army and even the
Republican Guard. By the way Baath was doing the same thing. We wanted
to chance the party leadership but without risking a split. When we
heard that Aziz al Hadsch had done this step we were astonished.
Originally the opposition had great support but Aziz was considered to
be the weakest of the leading opposition group. He had bad records in
jail. Soon the support began to fade away. He went to the southern
marches and started armed struggle. The territory is not appropriate
for that guerrilla warfare as you easily can be traced by helicopter
gunship. Many comrades lost their lives. Aziz was captured in 68. He
betrayed his comrades and was even released by Saddam.

Q: How strong has the Chinese influence been on the movement of Aziz
al Hadsch?
China tried to gain influence. They invited cadres to China, they
offered support and so on. There was quite a lot of sympathy but never
there was an open pro-Chinese tendency within the ICP.

Q: Let us go back as far as in 1959. It is generally agreed upon that
between the events of Mosul in march and in Kirkuk in July the
communist movement touched its climax. Many say, even die-hard enemies
of the ICP, that the party would have had the strength to seize power?
I remember May 1st then millions marched. The demonstrations started
in the early morning and even in the late afternoon there were still
people to pass. In the CC there were two wings. On one side the one
around the first secretary Salam Adil who were against to take power
and on the other hand the army committee, who advocated to take power
by military means. Only later I got to know that Moscow intervened to
the detriment of a military coup. Seen retrospectively the Russian
intervention was decisive for the line of the party.

Q: What you think of the National Front in the 70ies and how it ended?
The National Front was the best period of the ICP. It was Saddam who
bears the responsibility of the break. But nevertheless we reacted in
a wrong way. When Saddam hung 43 communists in 1979 despite of
contrary promises it was obvious that we had to give a clear response.
But the party conducted a kind of mass flight. The closed all papers,
offices, mass organisations and so one and the leading cadres left the
country. Yes, it was indeed necessary to prepare underground work. But
we virtually stopped party activity.

Q: What was your position on the war with Kuwait?
I supported Iraq as Kuwait forms historically part of Iraq.

Q: Is it possible that the US will adopt those communists into a
post-Saddam administration?
In the first run no, but later on maybe.

Q: Which course this war will take?
Its not possible to make a serious prediction. It could last three
days but also one month or more. In any case the US will have to face
big problems once established in Iraq.

Q: Is a civil war possible?
I do not think that a civil war will break out in parallel with the
American aggression as the latter is directed the entire Iraqi people,
Arabs, Kurds, against all national parties.

ICP Al Cadre calls for the liberation of the homeland 07/20/03

Iraqi Communist break-away group calls for the liberation of the homeland

Appeal to Fraternal and Friendly Communist Parties
The Iraqi Communist Party (Cadre)

Translated by Muhammad Abu Nasr
July 20, 2003

People of the resistance, wherever you may be found!
An appeal to Fraternal and Friendly Communist Parties from the Iraqi
Communist Party (Cadre).

Before everything else we wish to congratulate ourselves and
congratulate you on the activity of the heroic Iraqi national
resistance, and to convey the news of an operation carried out Sunday
morning in the city of an-Nakhilah in the area of Karbala where 19
occupation troops and officers were killed and no fewer than 40
wounded. We also want to bring you the news of the heroic battle waged
by the resistance fighters on Thursday afternoon in the governorate of
Dayala where no fewer than 70 American officers and men were killed.
Four Iraqis were martyred in that operation, their pure souls
ascending like flames to their Creator pleasing and well pleased, to
take their places with Him in the gardens of paradise.

The Americans have been deceived by their own power. They madly
rampage about attacking, threatening, and laying down conditions that
contravene international political law. They have scoffed at and
obliterated both divine and positivist legality and have set their
soldiers as individuals standing above laws and customs to ravage and
wreck with nothing to restrain them and no one to bring them to
judgment before local or international justice.

But the cradle of civilization, legislation, and morality - the pure
Land of the Two Rivers - has today risen anew to fulfill the role that
its glorious Creator intended for it, and that is to make the
occupiers taste woe, to cause them to wail like the sands blowing
through the Baghdad streets. The Land of the Two Rivers will without
fail send them back to their homes in coffins or with their defeated
tails between their legs. It will thereby announce to the world the
beginning of the end of American arrogance. It will proclaim America's
retreat - humbled, humiliated, and covered with wounds - so that it
may never return to its haughtiness again.

If our noble Iraqi people appear to harbor feelings of hatred for
America, this is not a hatred of the great American people, but only
for American militarism and the band of tyrants who carry out the
orders of the Anglo-Zionist right-wing lobby which has even begun to
curtail the freedom of the American people themselves. For today it is
sending them to die in defense of its monopolist interests and in
defense of its rabid policeman - Israel.

Comrades!

In the midst of the deepening struggle of humanity against oppression,
indeed as the oppression of the peoples by world monopoly intensifies,
and on the basis of the human dream of achieving justice and equality
among people, our Communist movement arose as one of those
breakthrough torrents that history has a way of coming up with in
times when oppression and enslavement are mounting and when there is
no hope except for total, radical change.

Although it was preceded in this struggle for justice, peace, and
freedom by Islam, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Mandaeanism, and the
doctrines of Mt. Sinai, the Communist Movement has its own specific
character. That is, it arose on the basis of the great legacy of human
development, as has been most clearly seen in the prodigious upsurge
in science; the acceleration of communications; the emergence of
country and national borders between states; the prodigal
concentration of capital with its rampant expansion for profit and its
complete alignment with religion and on the side of monopoly against
the people who are oppressed. Our philosophy became aware of the bases
and reasons for exploitation and aligned itself totally with the
oppressed, taking into account the fact that if those oppressed people
came to power, that event would end the age of exploitation and
replace it with fraternity, peace, and justice among the peoples.
Based on this consideration, our movement has been one of the fiercest
and most vehement opponents of the occupation of other people's
territory and of colonialism, whether those took place peacefully or
by means of war: for occupation is the most intense form of national,
ethnic, and class oppression all together.

It would not be superfluous to mention that the world Communist
Movement has made great contributions to the liberation struggle of
the peoples. The experience of Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, and Viet Nam bear
witness to this. The experience of the Lebanese Communist Party during
the Zionist rape of their country also bears witness to this, as the
Communists raised the mighty slogan "To arms!" and fell as martyrs and
in martyrdom bombings just as did their comrades in Hizb Allah and the
rest of the Lebanese Patriotic Movement. If at times the Communist
Movement has suffered reversals, these can serve as lessons for us on
how to deal with mistakes and review our practice.

Neither is it superfluous to mention that the Iraqi Patriotic
Movement, and within that our Iraqi Communist Party, have given
martyrs to the cause of liberation.

Our slogan, as Iraqi Communists, is "A free homeland and a happy
people." Based on that, our position regarding the freedom,
sovereignty, and independence of the homeland is of the utmost
sensitivity and importance - so much so that even our philosophical
convictions themselves must give up pride of place to them. This
outlook was what led our Party's founder, our Comrade forever, Fahd,
to say, "I am a patriot before I am a Communist." In accordance with
this, the defense of national sovereignty is a principle that demands
and compels us by our very nature to fight the occupier wherever he
might come from. We must use every means to fight the occupier, and we
must fight in alliance with patriotic Iraqi forces, whatever way of
thinking they follow. Also in accordance with this principle, in times
when our country falls under occupation or attack by an enemy, there
is no room for what are called "tactics" or "accepting the status quo"
or "reckoning with the facts of power and weakness" if these are not
aimed at the basic goal of defense of the homeland. During the 1967
Zionist war of aggression, Iraqi Communists set aside their hostility
to 'Abd ar-Rahman 'Arif and made an appeal from their prison cells -
where some were on death row, while others were serving out long-term
or life sentences. Those Communists set aside such matters and
appealed to be released to take part in the fighting against the
Zionist enemy, either on the front lines as regular soldiers or in
guerrilla resistance outfits. They pledged to return voluntarily to
prison after the enemy was driven off, and they offered the Iraqi
government the right to chose whatever guarantees it wanted, including
letting some of their members serve as hostages.

But today, oblivious to the time and to the consciousness of free
people, the Communist Movement in Iraq has been deceived. It has
suffered a reversal more intensely painful and more violent in its
effects than the acceptance of the resolution to partition Palestine
at the end of the 1940s.

The reversal today is the result of two full decades of retreats and
backtracking led by the former Secretary Mr. Aziz Muhammad,
accompanied by the financial and propaganda officer of the Party at
that time, Mr. Fakhri Karim.

At the end of the 1970s Fakhri was subjected to a Party tribunal after
it was disclosed that he had a relationship with agencies of the
regime. His Party membership was suspended. But on the basis of an
individual order from Aziz Muhammad, Fakhri was elevated to membership
in the Political Bureau and put in charge of the Party's finance,
propaganda, and security apparatus. That is to say, in practice he was
given keys to all decision-making in the Party. Since that time and on
the pretext of the military situation in which the Party found itself,
the democratic part of the principle of "democratic centralism" has
been canceled. This has meant the mechanical implementation of orders,
particularly since Fakhri held control of the comrades' livelihood in
his hands. The best of the Party militants were sent into exile, as
were the oldest Party members and thinkers. The Party Congress held in
1984 politically undermined the Party. The Party's top concern then
became the finding of an ally that would fight on its behalf. The
ideological undermining of the party resulted in its becoming a
mouthpiece for the chauvinist tendency within the Kurdish movement,
while organizationally the undermined Party became an army of
informers serving Fakhri, who spied on his comrades, searching out
ways to bring them down should they try to expose him. A whole new
discipline outside the bounds of normal organizational behavior
emerged, namely the discipline of bringing people down. Fakhri used
this, naturally, to divert attention from his own degeneration. In
addition he usurped control over the Party's supplies and over its
propaganda institutions. He registered them as his personal property
and he entered the world of wheeling and dealing. The inevitable
result of all this was that he would ally himself with America, that
he would find in America the best possible protector of his commercial
interests. He therefore visited Washington in 1991 and gave them a
down payment in the form of a statement he made on Voice of America in
which he demanded that Bush intensify the embargo against the Iraqi
people. By enticement and threat he attracted a group of Iraqi
Communist Party writers and journalists to cooperate with the American
Central Intelligence Agency to put out a newspaper called "Sawt
al-Kuwayt ad-Dawli" or "The International Voice of Kuwait".

This newspaper, edited by Communists, was one of the most important
clarions calling for the mobilization of the 30-nation aggression
against Iraq. Specifically, it was the first to publish the theatrical
report about the young girl Nuwayra under the headline "Iraqis steal
infant incubators from Kuwait". As the battles raged, this newspaper,
which was edited by Iraqi Communists, printed stories under giant
masochistic headlines like "Coalition forces demolish Baghdad" and
"Allied aircraft exterminate Iraqi military formation near Basra."
Even the Kuwaiti government with all its systematic hostility to Iraq
could not bear the extreme vulgarity of such a paper. It came to
regard the money allocated to it as a waste of public funds and
finally shut it down. Thus in 1993 its editors began directly to work
for the Central Intelligence Agency, becoming experts at bringing down
people within the Party and the Iraqi and Arab patriotic movements.
They set about publicizing the plan to occupy the country under the
slogan "liberation of Iraq." America announced some of their names,
and an Iraqi lawyer living in exile lauded them. The writings of those
editors are archived and available for reference to anyone seeking
proof of their vociferous revolt against their own identities and customs.

By agreement with Fakhri, the renegade Hamid Majid ascended to the
leadership of the Party, which plunged headlong into open activity
with America against the Iraqi people. The Party newspaper "Tariq
ash-Sha'b" published an article in July 2002 that reported that the
Deputy Consul in the American Embassy in Damascus visited the offices
of the Iraqi Communist Party in Syria and discussed recent
developments with Party representatives. The Party's internal
publication, "Munadil al-Hizb" reported on a special meeting of the
Party Central Committee to study how the Party would take part in the
coming events, which some Party spokesmen termed "the liberation of
Iraq." During the invasion battles, the Party openly acknowledged that
it had fighters on the front lines together with the "Coalition
Forces." In the last decade, the Party took upon itself the task of
preparatory propaganda for what the Anglo-Zionists termed preventive
air strikes on military targets during the period of the embargo.
Hamid Majid himself entered Iraq via Kuwait together with the American
Army. Last but not least, he has joined the Council of Opportunists
which was declared and whose members were appointed by the American
Military Governor of Iraq. The first decree of this Council was to
declare the date of Baghdad's occupation to be a national holiday. In
addition, in order to secure his admission to this Council of
Opportunists, Hamid Majid agreed to the conditions imposed on him by
the Military Governor, among the most important of which are:

That Hamid Majid must not represent the Communist Party but the
Shi'ite confessional community.
That the Communist Party should reformulate its program and internal
rules so as to take out from them and from the Party's publications,
all references to "colonialism", "imperialism", "national
independence", "defense of the homeland", and any concept that is
related to these terms. In addition, Bremer must be referred to as
"Mr. Bremer" and the occupation authorities must be referred to as the
"Government of the Coalition".
The Iraqi Communist Party must cooperate with the American Army
against Islamist and other "saboteurs" who are now bearing arms
against the occupation. The Party must immediately inform on any
suspects, and it must actively participate in maintaining security.
No members of the Communist Party must carry any weapons unless
licensed to do so by the government.
The Party must focus its celebrations on such occasions as the 9th of
April, New Year's Day, Christmas, American Independence Day, the
anniversary of the foundation of the Iraqi Communist Party, and Nawruz.
The Party must work determinedly to reduce extremism among Shi'ite
Muslims - the Sadr and al-Khalis Groups - while on the other hand
working to strengthen the currents of Baqir al-Hakim and Bahr al-'Ulum.
Obviously, the implementation of these conditions means in practice
the total elimination of the role of the Iraqi Communist Party in the
political arena, on the one hand; and, on the other hand it will lead
to transforming the mass membership of the Iraqi Communist Party into
informers, collaborators with the enemy of Iraq, the enemy of the
peoples, and of humanity - the Anglo-Zionist right-wing. The hands of
this right-wing are stained with the blood of patriots from every part
of the world. It is they who brought about the defeat of the glorious
14 July 1958 Revolution, and the defeat of the glorious 3 July
Revolution. Indeed it is this right-wing itself that pushed and
organized and is ultimately responsible for the bloodshed and loss of
life associated with Baath Party coups of 8 February 1963 and 17 July
1968. In February 1963 alone 105,000 honorable Iraqis fell as martyrs
at the hands of the putschists. After the Baathist leader, 'Ali Salih
as-Sa'di, and the man who planned and arranged a Baathist coup against
the government of 'Abd al-Karim Qasim had been arrested, the American
Central Intelligence Agency took over direction of the putschists,
making use of a radio transmitter in Amman, Jordan. According to the
account given by Mr. Hanna Batatu [in his book "The Old Social Classes
and the Revolutionary Movements of Iraq", pp. 985-986.] this radio
station broadcast the names and addresses of Communists together with
their secret hideouts enabling the putschists and agents of the
Nationalist Guard to execute them on the spot or to arrest them and
torture them to death.
The February 1963 coup was not its only bloody act. The American
Central Intelligence Agency planned the murder of a million martyrs in
Indonesia and of more than a million in Viet Nam in open genocide or
in the course of what even enemies of the Left have called a "dirty
war." This is to say nothing about the massacres in Chile, Nicaragua,
Afghanistan, and the 30-nation aggression against Iraq, the depleted
uranium. And now our country is under occupation in contravention of
international legal resolutions.

Comrades!

Our heroic Iraqi people and their courageous resistance fighters are
up to the task of expelling the occupation. But we appeal to you for
your solidarity with and support for the Iraqi people, not simply
because our cause is just, nor merely as a matter of principle, but so
that you may take part in this great event - the fall of America,
enemy of the peoples - the initiation of which has been laid upon the
Iraqi people who yearn for your support.

The crime that the renegade Hamid Majid has committed against the
Party and Iraq is unpardonable. It inflicts damage on the entire
Communist movement in Iraq and the Arab Homeland, and on you as well.
Neither self-criticism nor apology will do any good in this case. The
Party Rules have rejected this behavior in legitimate organizational
ways, yet he and his gang have persisted in their behavior in spite of
the Party's internal system. Therefore we, the mass members of the
Iraqi Communist Party and its base, declare as follows:

The renegade Hamid Majid, by collaborating with the American
Administration prior to the occupation and by joining one of its
institutions after the occupation, has committed the crime of high
treason against the nation. In his activities he does not represent
the Iraqi Communist Party nor Iraqi patriots.
The Iraqi Communist Party stands with the sons and daughters of their
people against the occupation and is committed to the armed resistance
and supports it regardless of which ideological currents are involved.
The first and basic aim now is the expulsion of the occupiers from Iraq.
Shame and disgrace upon those who incited the invaders to attack his
homeland!

Glory to the heroic Iraqi people!

Eternal glory to the July Revolution and its great leader 'Abd
al-Karim Qasim!

No to the government of "prize horses"! No to the Council of
Opportunists! No to any international forces on the soil of Iraq!

May the hands of the courageous fighters be protected!

Open letter of three leading Iraqi Communists to support the resistance

Open letter of three leading Iraqi Communists to support the resistance
"condemn the Iraqi Communist Party and all those who have participated
in war and occupation"

Dear comrades,

Warm salutes

According to most historians, the Iraqi Communist Party was founded in
March 1934. They also have a common believe that the first Marxists
have contributed both in national events and had contacts with
international media before the official foundation of the party.
Accordingly, the organization which was considered as a beginning for
the foundation of the Communist Party was called "the committee for
struggle against colonialism and investment". In this context, we
observe the summation of aspects of struggle for national independence
and the realization of socialism's dreams and aspirations.

These aspects remained inseparable throughout the history of the
party, and they should remain as such firmly unchangeable.
Unfortunately, the current leaders of the Iraqi Communist Party have
abandoned this historical fact and have converted the idea of
antagonism to imperialism into a melting pot of common ground of
interest and collaboration with the imperialist foe as it has
currently happened on the Iraqi stage of events. This change of
ideological direction has become apparent and translucent thirteen
years ago, before the first war of aggression against Iraq starting
January 17, 1991. It is clear that war was preceded by the dismantling
and demise of socialism in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe
as well as the vast retreat of the leftist's power in many other
countries. The leaders of the Iraqi Communist Parties justify their
collaboration with the American imperialists and their coalition
partners by the convergence of common interest to rid Iraq of
dictatorship and the build up of democracy in that country.

The prolonged and vicious police atrocities which were directed
against all progressive political decedents, the closeness of all
doors of reconciliation by the dictatorship which could have resolved
the internal political disputes peacefully and stopped the social
bleeding have created the suitable environment to weaken the Iraqis
resolve to stand against and stop the imperialist invasion of Iraq;
the consequence of which has been manifested as loss of sovereignty
and national independence, dissolving the army, destruction of the
economy and national historical heritage…etc, and, moreover, the
country's wealth has been sold in an open international auction as it
has been revealed lately.

The American leadership and its coalition partners have attained their
objectives in this war through lies. They have prepared and persuaded
the different Iraqi political movements to participate in this war
through false promises like rescuing Iraq from a dictatorship and
establishing a democratic regime. Among these political movements who
have collaborated with the imperialists was the Iraqi Communist Party.
The dictatorship was responsible for the fall out of the different
political movements which have gambled and preferred to collaborate
with the invaders especially the Americans who proclaimed themselves
as liberators. However, all political parties which have participated
in the invasion of Iraq are fully and directly responsible for the
spread of the false American propaganda of Iraq's liberation.

The participation of the leadership of the Iraqi Communist Party in
the so called Provisional Council which were created by the occupiers
was already planed before the initiation of the war and the occupation
of the country. The leadership of the Communist Party are not truthful
when saying that they were not pro war or proponent for the occupation
of Iraq, or when claiming that they want to put an end to the
occupation. The Iraqi Communist Party and the other political
movements which are cooperating with the occupation have united
themselves with the occupier and therefore it is worthless to try to
correct them. Therefore, they will be considered by the people's
anti-occupation movements as deviated political movements which have
distant itself from the national struggle arena for building a humane
and democratic society.

These deviated movements claimed that they would negotiate a
settlement with the occupiers and give them an unlimited period of
time to end the occupation. This would mean perpetuation of the
occupation. Therefore, it is only the people's struggle by all
necessary means available and under a unified national anti-
occupation front will put an end for the occupation and put Iraq in
the right path towards building a prosperous democratic society.

We support the demand of running a free and fair election, under the
scrutiny and control of independent an internationally recognized and
respected observers, to elect a legitimate authority which preserves
Iraq's independence and natural resources as well as to bring Iraq
back into the Arabic and international family spheres.

We dearly appreciate your solidarity with the Iraqi people in their
struggle against the war, sanction and occupation. We also thank you
for your daily struggle to help the Iraqis to regain their
independence and establishment of democracy. We are proud that you an
we have participated in this humane endeavour.

We look forward that your party, all other progressive and socialist
parties and human right organizations continue supporting the struggle
of the Iraqi people and to provide the urgent human needs for the war
and occupation victims. We also hope that your party would condemn the
political stand of the Iraqi Communist Party and all those political
parties which have participated in the planning of the war and the
perpetuation of the occupation. We also ask you to obliterate all
contacts with them and instead establish contacts with and listen to
the voices of other Iraqi national organizations which constitute the
rainbow of the Iraqi society and which are anti-occupation and
struggle on a daily basis for free and progressive Iraq.

At the end I would like to point out that I am a member of the Iraqi
Communist Party since 1948 and one of the leaders who contributed
actively in rebuilding the party following the political oppressions
in 1963, 1971 and 1978. The majority of the Communist Party members
and the Iraqi leftists who participated in the struggle against
dictatorship since decades and who are against the current political
direction of the Iraqi Communist Party Leadership have previously read
this letter.

"Greek people solidly on the side of Iraq"
Athens, 15/12/2003

Solidarity to the Iraqi resistance
for the defeat of the occupation forces

The demonstration on Saturday 13th of December and the subsequent
march through the streets of Athens, was a small but decisive step in
the direction of what has to follow in order that the people of this
country are able to express their solidarity to the Iraqi people.

No one doubts that the working people and the youth of Greece remain
solidly on the side of the people in Iraqi, as well as on the side of
all the peoples who resist imperialism, with first and foremost those
who resist USA, humanity's biggest enemy. The fortnightly campaign, as
well as the meetings which preceded the demonstration and had taken
place in several major cities and in which featured a speaker who was
a member of the Iraqi resistance, had already shown the people's will
to continue their support to the struggle of the Iraqi people. The
American and British occupation forces in Iraq, can and should be
defeated. This is for the benefit of all the peoples of the world, who
are now openly threatened by the American imperialists.

Today the struggle of Iraqi people is the struggle of the masses in
every corner of the planet against the U.S. war campaign, against the
slaughtering and the crush of the people's rights and resistances. In
these conditions, the heroic struggle which is constantly carried out
by the Iraqi people, with many sacrifices so far, acquires a
significance and it, thus, becomes the duty of us all to actively
mobilize ourselves against the tyrants of our times, against
imperialist barbarism and the dirty wars caused by it.

The Solidarity Initiative to the Iraqi Resistance salutes the
activists, workers, young people, intellectuals, who actively sided on
the side of the people of Iraq, a people who is currently severely
tried, whilst suffering the excruciating consequences of occupation.
It also salutes all the members of trade unions and all the movements
and which are active in many neighbours of this city, as well as many
academic departments with sided with us, demonstrating their own
anger. Our duty is to extend these endeavours, whilst we also try to
strengthen them, so that our people's solidarity becomes more
effective. At the same time, we should also be a part of the common
action of all the anti-war and anti-imperialist movements, who are
active throughout the country, as well as coordinate our solidarity to
the Iraqi resistance with all the democratic anti-imperialist forces
in every part of the planet.

National Democratic Front of South Korea

To the Anti-imperialist Camp in Europe

The Central Committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea
extends militant greetings to the patriotic Iraqi people who have
turned out in a valiant national liberation struggle to drive out the
US occupiers as well as to the world progressive mankind rendering
positive support to their resistance. The US aggressive attack on Iraq
is a tyrannical robbery committed against a sovereign state for the US
world supremacy and the interests of the US oil monopolies,
irrespective of the international law and the demand of mankind.
Through the aggression on Iraq, it is fully revealed that the
ringleader of terrorism havocking the world peace and threatening the
safety of mankind is none other than the US itself.

Driven to a corner by the daily increasing anti-US resistance of the
Iraqi people, the US is compelling even its satellites as south Korea
to dispatch more troops to Iraq. In submission to the pressure of
their master, the south Korean pro-US sycophants including the
authorities and the "Grand National Party" decided recently to
dispatch additional troops to Iraq. This is a treachery act going
against the will of the majority of the south Korean people who have
opposed the Iraqi war of the US itself from the outset. The recent
attack on south Koreans in Iraq is a clear expression of the Iraqi
people's resolute protest against the south Korean pro-US forces'
decision on additional troop dispatch to Iraq. The US imperialism is
the enemy of the Iraqi people and Muslims, and at the same time, it is
the sworn enemy of the south Korean people. It is the chief criminal
mainly guilty of our nation's division as well as the aggressor,
murderer and plunderer who has occupied south Korea to commit all
sorts of carnages and crimes. The NDFSK and the patriotic south Korean
people will never tolerate the US pressure to bring our beloved sons
into Iraq as canon fodders of the imperialist war of aggression and
will frustrate to the last the pro-US traitors' move for additional
troop dispatch to Iraq.

The NDFSK highly appreciates the anti-war, peace-loving forces of the
world including the Anti-imperialist Camp in Europe who extend warm
support to the south Korean people's struggle against the additional
troop dispatch to Iraq. The NDFSK fully supports the anti-US armed
resistance of the Iraqi people as well as the proposal of the
Anti-imperialist Camp in Europe for conducting a worldwide and unified
anti-US, anti-war movement.

We, the south Korean people, will wage a more dynamic anti-US struggle
to drive out Yankees from south Korea and reunify the country without
fail.

US troops out of south Korea!
US troops out of Iraq!
We denounce the US and its satellites' policy of Iraqi occupation!
Iraq is for Iraqi people!
Anti-US, anti-war and peace-loving peoples of the world, unite!

Albayan Althawri (Revolutionary Manifesto) - Iraq

In Solidarity With Anti-imperialist Camp

Dear Friends and Comrades,

We in the "Albayan Althawri" (Iraqi Anti-imperialist opposition) would
like to express our strong support to your efforts aiming at the
unification of all anti-imperialist forces in order to combat
imperialism and its lackeys all over the world.

Anglo-American imperialism has started a vicious wave of attacks never
seen before in terms of its disregard to people's will. The
illegitimate occupation of Iraq is a clear example of this wave of
attacks that also included Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Sudan, Haiti,
Somalia and many other countries. These attacks demonstrate how
criminal imperialism is, and shows the contempt for human life under
the law of jungle applied by Anglo-American imperialists.

We believe that this massive attack requires us to unify our forces to
counter-attack and defend our peoples. Moreover, we also believe that
secondary differences between all anti-imperialist forces should be
marginalized for the time being, and all must focus on the main task
of our time, which is fighting Anglo-American Imperialism. In
addition, we consider international solidarity between peoples of
different countries as a crucial factor in the battle of freedom, and
we are trying our best to strengthen the relations between our people
in Iraq with all other nations.

Imperialists as we all know decided to occupy Iraq regardless of their
own peoples' objection who demonstrated in millions. They were
influenced by their agents within the Iraqi opposition (now the US
appointed Governing Council) and thought that the people of Iraq would
receive them with roses, on the contrary we all see how strong the
resistance is and how imperialism is suffering from painful blows on a
daily basis. Anglo-American imperialists thought that they can occupy
Iraq, plunder its wealth, and build military basis to launch attacks
on other countries without any obstacles. However, to their
disappointment our people's resistance is intensifying day-by-day and
expanding from area to area as well as developing in the quality of
attacks. This resistance will encourage other nations to start
combating imperialism, and will show how people's will is stronger
than the imperialist war machine.

Again comrades and friends, we would like to salute you and all those
who heard George Bush when he said "either with us or against us" and
chose to be against him and his accomplices!

DOWN WITH IMPERIALISM!
LONG LIVE INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY!
LONG LIVE IRAQI PEOPLE'S RESISTANCE!

Events to support Iraqi resistance and condemn US imperialism in Greece

Dear friends and comrades

We have been thoroughly discussing the issue of the war in Iraq during
our meetings and communication during the past months. We have all
agreed in condemning the imperialist raid against the Iraqi people and
stressed that the US imperialist aggression against all peoples will
continue. We have, therefore, concluded that the struggle against US
imperialism is of primary importance for all peoples in the world and
that the effort of all left, progressive, revolutionary forces should
focus on this issue.
We have also agreed on the major significance of the resistance of the
Iraqi people. Their struggle is very important to all peoples, as they
have achieved in creating serious problems to US imperialists and
their "willing" allies. Their struggle encourages all peoples to fight
even more decisively against their greatest enemy.

In our opinion, it is the duty of all people and forces that oppose US
imperialist aggression to stand in solidarity to the Iraqi resistance,
to give a militant answer to the imperialist propaganda which tries to
present the Iraqi fighters as terrorists.

The best way to express this solidarity is to promote the Iraqi
resistance to the masses, to inform them, to create political events
that will encourage them, will help them express their support to the
Iraqi resistance and thus join the anti-imperialist, anti-war movement.

The people in our country, Greece, have no doubt that the Iraqi people
fight a fair, patriotic war against the occupation. Last month we were
happy to have with us a representative of the Iraqi Patriotic
Alliance. Events and meetings were organized across the country and
the participation of people was significant. This proved once more
that the Greek people supports the Iraqi resistance and is not
disoriented by US propaganda.

Our next move is very important to us and, we hope, to the movement.
We are organizing open events in Athens and Thessaloniki on 13
December in favour of the Iraqi resistance and against US imperialism.

We picked this date because we felt it would be important to hold this
event on the same day as the demonstration in Rome prepared by Campo
Antiimperialista. And we were very happy to hear that another event is
taking place on the same day in England at the military base in
Menwith Hill.

We think that it is very important that there are already these events
in three countries on the same day. We would, therefore, like to send
our warmest message of solidarity and support to the demonstration in
Rome and to the event in Menwith Hill. And we would like to hear from
you all. Your own messages of solidarity and support to our events in
Greece will be very important to us.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon

In solidarity

Support the Resistance of the Iraqi People!
Solidarity address of the Workers' Communist Party of Denmark (APK) to
the Iraqi resistance demo, Rome, Dec 13

The illegal US war against Iraq has turned into an illegal occupation
with the participation of a "coalition" of imperialist powers and US
client states, including Denmark.

Under the pretext of "reconstruction" and "democratisation" of Iraq,
the US and the other occupying powers are looting, contrary to
international law, the assets of the Iraqi nation, privatising the oil
and other resources and handing them over to mainly US monopolies. The
A.P. Moller-Maersk Group [the biggest company in Denmark, translator's
note] is among the big profiteers.

But things have not worked out as the new colonial powers were
imagining. The US was not hailed as a liberator, but considered as an
occupier. The Iraqi people have initiated an extensive and armed
resistance against the occupying power.

This struggle is both just and legitimate, being in accordance with
international law, which acknowledges the right of the peoples to
expel occupiers with arms in hand.

The Iraqi resistance is against the US, against its allies and against
Iraqi collaborators such as the US-appointed and US-controlled
governing council of Quislings.
It is the continuation of the historical struggle of the Iraqi people
for a free and independent Iraq.

The resistance is a serious obstacle for the colonisation plans of the
US. Its extent and intensity has forced the US to change tactics and
revealed the real objectives of the Americans, but not just that. The
resistance has also – at least for the time being – braked US plans of
starting new wars, e.g. against Iran, Syria or North Korea, and is
keeping US military in a situation which reminds of Vietnam.

The US strives for world hegemony and has taken the offensive for
ensuring strategic control of the oil rich Middle East, Caucasus and
Central Asia.

The Iraqi resistance is encouraging the popular resistance to
imperialism everywhere. At the same time, it is a direct support for
the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupying
power, which is working closely together with the US. It contributes
to put a brake on the criminal endeavours of the Sharon government for
permanent occupation and ethnic cleansing.

The US and its allies have not succeeded in stopping the international
anti-war movement. It is an essential political factor weakening the
imperialist war coalition.

The US "War on Terror" and the concrete wars have led to record big
military budgets. The Fogh Rasmussen government [Fogh Rasmussen is the
Prime Minister of Denmark, translator's note], too, is following the
road of rearmament. This road is being paid by cutting the social
budgets and increasing the exploitation of the working people.

We are fighting the plans of US imperialism, plans being carried out
in the name of the so-called "War on Terror". We are demanding an
immediate end to the occupations of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan
and an immediate withdrawal of the occupying forces.

No Danish participation in war and occupation!
Danish troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan!
Stop Fogh Rasmussen and his government of war criminals!

Solidarity with the people of Iraq in resistance
National Demonstration in Rome scheduled Dec 13

On December 13 2003 a national demonstration – summoned by an ad hoc
committee – will be held to show solidarity with the Iraqi resistance.

1) The idea of demonstrating in favour of the Iraqi resistance arose
out of a widespread desire to guarantee the right of the Iraqi people
(like that of all other occupied peoples, including the Palestinians)
to resist against an Anglo-American occupation which is contrary to
every internationally recognised law, and to show that not all
Italians believe in the fairytale of "terrorism" (including "Syrian
terrorism"). In other words, the promoters and those who will be
demonstrating on December 13 (after a convention in a cinema in Rome)
will be saying the most obvious thing in the word: there is an
aggressor and there is a victim of the aggression.

In view of the direct involvement of Italy in the occupation of Iraq –
a sovereign country which posed no danger to anyone, having been
prostrated by a long embargo – the demonstrators will also be asking
for the withdrawal of the Italian troops, although the pro-government
media are trying to exploit the events of an-Nasiriyya (19 Italian
casualties, including 17 military) in order to create a hypocritically
consensus.

2) The demonstration will be non-partisan. This means that this
initiative was not launched by any party or trade union. The easily
expected result was that all political forces, right, centre and left,
have been attacking this initiative through a wide range of
initiatives: legal threats (on the right), talk of a terrible
anti-Western conspiracy (on the centre) and defamation claiming that
the idea of the initiative is in the hands of "Fascist infiltrators"
(on the left).

The promoters and signatories – who have no TV or newspaper outlets –
have answered, wherever they could, with arguments which are
impossible to answer, and one can say that one important political
result has been achieved: it has been shown that politicians and
journalists, whatever minor clashes they may have, are all united in
supporting a single pro-US regime which is actually in control in
Italy. We can mention the case of the secretary of Rifondazione
Comunista who has warned the members of his party to withdraw their
support for the demonstration.

So, despite the concentrated attacks, the number of sponsors is
increasing, and we can expect several thousand people to come to Rome.
United not by any political ideology, but simply because they wish to
emphasize the fact that "resisting", in the manner the attacked deem
best, is a basic right. Some of the sponsors are quite significant:
some very well known scholars of the Arabic culture and language,
Italy's best known historian – paradoxically – of the Crusades,
Professor Franco Cardini; and Angelo Del Boca, the most authoritative
historian of Italian colonialism.

3) The demonstration will also be attended by some Iraqi
representatives: the most prominent of them is Awni al-Kalemji,
international spokesman for the Iraqi National Alliance (Patriotic
opposition).

This clearly shows that the Iraqi Resistance does not accept being
labelled as "terrorism". And this is a reason to expect intimidation
from a small group of Iraqi collaborationists of the Anglo-American
occupiers – there have already been signs of this, and not just in the
press, in recent weeks.

4) It should be stressed that the demonstration is open to all,
Italians and non-Italians, whatever their political opinions or
religious beliefs may be. It is open to all those who are offended by
the limitless arrogance shown by the US government and its stooges. In
this sense, it will also be an "anti-USA" demonstration, if being
"anti-USA" today means, as the promoters and the demonstrators
believe, being on the side of international law.

We should remember in fact that the Charter of the United Nations
states that armed resistance is legitimate in case of invasion. This
principle has been repeated in UN Resolution 1514, which states that
"The subjection of peoples to alien subjugation, domination and
exploitation constitutes a denial of fundamental human rights, is
contrary to the Charter of the United Nations and is an impediment to
the promotion of world peace and co-operation"; and in the Additional
Protocol I to the Geneva Convention, which in 1977 referred to "armed
conflicts in which peoples are fighting against colonial domination
and alien occupation and against racist regimes in the exercise of
their right of self-determination".

the National Liberation of Iraq

Solidarity with the National Liberation of Iraq!!!

On Behalf of the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Committee (USA), we
endorse this statement, may the Liberation of Iraq be a foco point for
class resistance within the US, may it lead to the defeat of the
Zionist Entity, and the purging of all American Chauvenism and Zionist
Capitulation from the Internationalist Leftists Forces in the US, for
class war in the "belly of the beast". We call on the US working class
to stand shoulder to shoulder with the masses of Iraq in their
death-defying show down with US/UK imperialism and Zionism, and for
the total liberation of the Iraq people from the scorn of Occupation.
It is clear as noonsday, that this an hour of put-up or shut-up for
those who espouse the just cause of anti-imperialist class struggle.
We unconditionally oppose the US/EU so-called "terrorism"
black-listings, of liberation fighters, such as those in Palestine,
and Southern Lebanon, oppose the demonization of Arabs, Muslims,
Southeast Asians, and all other oppressed groups in the US. We call
for an international Axis of Resistance against US/UK Imperialism and
Zionism, a popular movement for solidarity with the socialist camp
such as Korean and Cuba, unconditional solidarity with their
leadership, solidarity with national liberation struggles, including
armed struggle in the periphery, and solidarity with class war and
national liberation political prisoners, including those in the United
States.
We are the working class laboring sons and daughters of the great
Martyr Comrade John Brown, who by force of arms, raided the hated
slave plantation of the south in order to rid the US of race-slavery.
We stand for the rights of nations to self-determination, in and for
the dictatorship of the proletariate in the US.

Through various other names, we have made some level of contact with
the Anti-Imperialist Camp in Italy, and would like to build still
further bonds by endorsing this effort and carrying it forward in the
US, regardless of the potential for repression. This is a
non-negotiable matter of principle, and a battle of historic
geo-political significance, a battle that must be won!

Solidarity message to the Anti-imperialist Camp

To Anti-imperialist Camp, Iraqi Resistance,

Dear comrades and friends,

We were informed about the wild attack and shameful conspiracy of the
Italian government rulers on anti imperialist camp and Iraqi
resistance to repress and stop it. In fact this is the final attempt
of imperialists and their mercenaries to save themselves from the
burning flames anger of the masses that oppose the savage war
especially against Iraqi people.

Left Radical of Afghanistan strongly condemns the inhuman act of
Italian authorities and seriously objects to stop it. The war for
reaching to economic and strategic goals under the pretext of war
against terrorism, never will win the support of people around the
world, except the like minded fascists who seeks their profits in the
looting of other poor and deems their parasite lives in the sucking of
the blood of other poor nations. This is not acceptable for awareness
and conscious people who believe radical changes on this world where
all nations without discrimination enjoy the prosperity, peace and
equal life privileges.

LRA with its full strength support the Anti-imperialist Camp and Iraqi
Resistance against US aggression and its cruel oppressions. And
declare its solidarity with this bravely and heroic campaign against
invaders and their disgraced supporters.

- Stop the shameful attacks on Anti-imperialist camp and Iraqi resistance!
- Get out US and coalition troops from Iraq!
- Respect to the determination of Iraqi people and let them to decide
their future!

A view on the battle: Hundrets of soldiers died on US´s bloody way to saddam

http://www.albasrah.net/maqalat_mukhtara/khasbaghdad_15122003.htm

Special Report: From the scene of the capture of Iraqi President, an
exclusive report from the patriotic Iraqi website www.albasrah.net.

Iraqi residents of the area of ad-Duwar where Iraqi President Saddam
Hussein was captured by aggressor troops late Saturday evening report
that a ferocious battle raged in their farming area between Iraqi
Resistance Fighters led by President Saddam Hussein and American
aggressor troops backed by aircraft who resorted to all sorts of
weapons, including those under international ban.

Lawyer Isma'il 'Abd ar-Rahman said that the courageous Iraqi
Resistance led by Saddam Hussein lost more than 150 men martyrs in the
heroic engagement. He said that the US aggressor forces lost more than
250 men, however, in killed and injured during the combat, and dozens
of American vehicles were destroyed.

He added that American Apache helicopters and airplanes were
constantly in the skies of the area throughout the entire duration of
the battle that raged for more than 30 hours during which the US
occupation forces were unable to break the will and defiance of the
heroic Resistance fighters.

Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim ad-Duri for his part said that the American
forces, frustrated by the Resistance fighters' stubbornness, began to
fire shells that contained types of narcotic gas, taking advantage of
their technological superiority. At that point the aggressor forces
had no information, Dr. ad-Duri said, indicating that the Iraqi
President was in the area. They simply wanted to silence the guns of
the Resistance fighters that had inflicted heavy losses on the Americans.

He said that the gas spread quickly in the air and affected the
ability of the Resistance fighters to do battle, causing them to lose
consciousness. This allowed the American aggressor forces to arrest
them while they were unconscious. Among them was the Iraqi President
Saddam Hussein. He said that this is what all fair-minded people who
witnessed the farcical lie that the American forces showed on
television at noon on Sunday, 14 December.

Dr. ad-Duri added that the nature of the combat that took place in
that farming area full of date palms puts the lie to the naïve
American account. It shows that President Saddam Hussein led the
battle, demonstrating outstanding courage in defying the occupation
forces. These are the praiseworthy characteristics that Iraqis know to
be his.

A leading member of the Arab Socialist Baath Party said that the Iraqi
President is a Baathist leader before he is an office holder, and
therefore his arrest or assassination was always something that was
possible, and the President and his comrade fighters knew this. The
disappearance of President Saddam Hussein from the spectacle of the
political arena in Iraq today will not affect the cohesion of the
Party nor the leadership by the Party of the heroic Iraqi
Resistance. The Baath Party, he said, is a revolutionary,
insurrectionist party.

The leading Baath Party member stressed that the Resistance would not
retreat. The agenda of the Resistance will escalate in retribution for
the loss of freedom and dignity of the President who represents the
freedom and dignity of the people and the Arab Nation.

He noted that the Iraqi Resistance retains its military,
organizational, and informational apparatus, it knows all its members
are ready for martyrdom at any time and place, and he pledged that
qualitative Resistance operations aimed at the occupation forces and
their collaborators would continue because it is the Resistance that
represents the Iraqi soul.

Meanwhile Iraqi farmer 'Abbud Mustafa who owns a chicken farm in the
area said that several thousand of is chickens, which are his source
of livelihood, had suddenly died with no prior warning. He said that
veterinarian doctors told him that they had died as a result of the
gas which the American forces had released in the area during their
attempt to capture President Saddam Hussein.

Al-Hajjah Siham Jabbar spoke about the same thing, affirming that two
of the sheep her family owns on their rural farmstead had died because
of the effects of the gas released by the American forces in the region.

Commenting on the way that the Americans released the story about the
arrest of President Saddam Hussein, Dr. Mani' Mahdi, professor of
psychology at the University of Tikrit said that the American
Administration wants to humiliate not only President Saddam Hussein
but also the masses of the people and the Arab Nation who pinned their
hopes on the personality of President Saddam, regarding him as an Arab
Nationalist hero and a valiant knight of the Arab Nation. The American
Administration, Dr. Mahdi said, wants to deprive us of our political
and historical symbols and personalities so that we might pay homage
to defeated leaders who live under in the shade of the Americans.
President Saddam Hussein is the one who said "No!" to the American
Administration. It was he who struck the very depths of the Zionist
entity. It was he who built an industrial base and brought together an
army of scientists in Iraq. It was he who made Iraq's national
resources secure from the encroachments of the enemies of the Arab
nation. Because of all that the Americans brought together all the
intelligence people and psychologists in the Administration to put
together a show of humiliation of this historic personality who
represents the present and future of the Arab nation.

Statement Arab Socialist Baath Party (Iraq) 12/15/03

Special Document: Statement by the Iraqi Branch of the Arab Socialist
Baath Party.

In the name of God, the Merciful, the Mercy-giving.

The Arab Socialist Baath Party.

"One Arab Nation, With an Everlasting Mission."

"Unity, Freedom, Socialism."

Statement on the imprisonment of our comrade the General Secretary by
the occupation forces in Iraq.

Sons and daughters of the Iraqi people and the Arab Nation!

Baathist Comrades!

In the course of the on-going confrontation between the heroic Iraqi
Resistance led by the Arab Socialist Baath Party and the occupation
forces and their stooges in Iraq, and at a time of intensified
operations by the occupation forces as they desperately attempt to
strike at and stop the escalating armed Resistance, American
occupation forces with the help of mercenary traitors managed to carry
out a combined operation that targeted a number of alternative
points both real potential locations and decoy locations in
various parts of Salah ad-Din Province while our comrade General
Secretary was on the move. The operation made use of biologically
effective interventions in order to take our comrade, the General
Secretary and Chief Secretary of the Iraqi Branch of the Party, the
militant Saddam Hussein, prisoner. That event took place before
midnight on Saturday, 13 December 2003.

The heroic armed Resistance, guided by its political and strategic
programs, will never stop. No, it will continue, escalating its
designated line in accordance with tactical demands and the strategic
aim of "expelling the occupation forces, liberating Iraq, and
preserving it as one unified homeland for all Iraqis." That which has
been laid out by the Command of the Political Resistance and that
which has been learned by fighting detachments will continue to be
implemented with lofty zeal, fighting spirit, clear vision, and firm
resolve, embodying the principled and militant characteristics and
virtues of our comrade the General Secretary.

The Baath, the Resistance, and all noble minded Arabs and human beings
are certain that his firmly rooted faith, his strong fighting spirit,
his authentic Arab honor, his iron Iraqi unyileldingness, and his
unique personal potency will inform the great battle of defiance that
our comrade the General Secretary will wage inside the enemy prison
camp, a battle that will add a new and eternal epic chapter to the
life of Saddam Hussein, a man dear to the hearts of Iraqis, Arabs, and
all progressives in the world.

Long live free Iraq! Defeat the occupation!

Long live the heroic Iraqi Resistance!

Long live the Comrade General Secretary and Chief Secretary of the
Iraqi Branch of the Party, the militant Saddam Hussein!

Long live Palestine, beloved of comrade Saddam Hussein, Free and Arab!

God is Greatest! God is Greatest! And may the despicable be despised!

Appeal of the ICP (cadre) to fraternal Communist Parties 12/13/03

Appeal of the ICP (cadre) to fraternal Communist Parties
on the occasion of the Rome demo for the Iraqi resistance, 13 Dec, 2003

Americans! You are going to be leaving Iraq either carrying coffins or
in them! Then hurry out and save your soldiers from certain death!

Iraqi Resistance Fighters! Kill the occupiers wherever you find them!

A free homeland and a happy people!

Workers of the world and oppressed people, unite!

Communists of the world! Rise up! The time has come!

An appeal to fraternal and friendly Communist Parties

Before everything else, we wish to congratulate ourselves and
congratulate you over the heroic Iraqi national resistance activity
against the treacherous Anglo-American occupation. With that we bring
you the certain promise of the national resistance that it will crush
the occupation and liberate Iraq!

The Americans have been blinded by their power. Furiously enraged,
they attack and threaten. They work meticulously against international
law. They trample all legality, both divine and human, making out as
if their soldiers were above all laws and norms, entitled to ravage,
ruin, and destroy without hindrance, and with no one to bring them to
account before either local or international legality.

But the pure Land of the Two Rivers, the cradle of civilizations, of
law, and of values, has arisen today anew to fulfill the tasks set for
it by the Exalted Creator. This land is giving the occupiers a taste
of disaster. It is making them weep like widows in the streets of
Baghdad. The Land of the Two Rivers will without fail send them back
to their homes in coffins or in headlong flight with their tails
between their legs in humiliation and defeat. This will herald the
beginning of the end of American arrogance. It will be a humiliating
reversal on a world scale, as America falls defeated, beaten,
bloodied, and despised, never again to resume its haughty strut.

If our noble Iraqi people continue to harbor hatred in their souls for
America, it is not a hatred of the great American people, but against
American militarism, and the band of tyrants who are manipulated by
the right-wing Anglo-Zionist lobby which has begun to curtail even the
freedom of the American people themselves, as it sends them today to
die in defense of their monopoly interests and those of their rabid
gendarme – Israel.

Comrades!

As the human struggle against oppression escalates, as world monopoly
tramples the peoples with increasing severity, humanity's dream of
attaining justice and equality among people forms the basis on which
our Communist movement has arisen as one of the qualitative leaps with
which history is replete at times when means of oppression and
enslavement mount up and there is no longer any hope save in a
comprehensive radical transformation.

Although Communism was preceded by Islam, Christianity,
Zoroastrianism, Mandaeanism, and the Sinaite faith in the struggle for
justice, peace, and freedom, the communist movement has its own
specificity. At the very least, it arose on the basis of a great
legacy of human progress, most prominently the heritage of the
tremendous scientific renaissance, the acceleration of communications
and the emergence of nations and national borders between states, the
excessive concentration of capital as it strove viciously to
accumulate profit. Religious circles aligned themselves solidly with
the monopolies against the oppressed. Our philosophy was conscious of
the dangers and causes of exploitation and so aligned itself solidly
with the oppressed, taking into account the fact that if those
oppressed people were to take power it would mean the end of the age
of exploitation. Brotherhood, peace, and justice between peoples would
prevail instead. Based on this understanding, our movement was one of
the harshest and most vehement opponents of the occupation of others'
territory, of colonialism, whether it spread peacefully or by war. Our
movement realized that occupation is the harshest form of national and
ethnic as well as class oppression.

What the Communist movement has contributed to the world in the way of
liberation struggle of the peoples is entirely worthy of mention. The
experience of Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, and Viet Nam bears witness to
this. The experience of the Lebanese Communist Party during the
Zionist rape of their country also bears witness to this. They raised
the slogan "To Arms!" and died as martyrs and martyrdom fighters, as
did their comrades in Hizb Allah and the rest of the Lebanese
Patriotic Movement. If our movement has suffered reverses for a time,
let this be a lesson for us, that we might treat our mistakes and
review our experience.

Also entirely worthy of mention is the legacy of the Iraqi patriotic
movement, including our Iraqi Communist Party, which has given martyrs
for the cause of liberation.

Our slogan, as Iraqi Communists, is "A Free Homeland and a Happy
People." Based on this, our stand on the freedom, sovereignty, and
independence of the homeland is of the highest importance and is felt
most keenly. So much so, that even our philosophical beliefs
themselves pale before it. This was formulated by the founder of our
party, our comrade forever, Fahd, when he said: "I am a patriot before
I am a Communist, and when I became a Communist, I came to feel even
more greatly my responsibility to my homeland." On this basis we are
compelled and destined to fight the occupier wherever he comes from,
by any means, and in alliance with our Iraqi patriotic forces, and
with international forces whatever their ideological character. On
this basis too, and in the situation where our country has fallen
under occupation or when it is attacked by an enemy, there is no such
thing as "tactics" or "acceptance of the status quo" or "assessing the
balance of strengths and weaknesses" except insofar as this serves the
basic aim, and that aim is defense of the homeland. During the Zionist
aggression of 1967, Iraqi Communists set aside their aversion to 'Abd
ar-Rahman 'Aref. From the dungeons in which they were languishing,
some of them under sentence of death, others under long and even life
sentences, they overlooked those personal matters and appealed instead
to be set free to take part in the fighting against the Zionist enemy,
whether as regular soldiers at the fronts or as Resistance guerrillas.
They pledged to return voluntarily to their cells after the defeat of
the enemy, and they offered to allow the Iraqi government whatever it
chose as a guarantee of their pledge, including using their relatives
as hostages.

But today, oblivious to the times and to the consciousness of free
people, the Communist movement in Iraq has been deluded. It has been
afflicted by a reversal more intensely painful and more violent in its
effects than was the party's acceptance of the partition of Palestine
at the end of the 1940s.

The reversal today is the product of two full decades of retreats led
by the two renegades 'Aziz Muhammad (former Party Secretary) and his
deputy Fakhri Karim. The two renegades collected all the keys to Party
political power in their hands – finance, propaganda, the security
apparatus, the secretariat of the Central Committee, and the Political
Bureau. They abrogated the internal system of the party and expelled
the best of the militant comrades, and things reached a point where
the party became totally paralyzed and unable to move. Its only
concern became how to find allies to fight for it. Then the party
suffered an ideological reversal and began to speak in the name of the
chauvinist current within the Kurdish movement. Organizationally, it
became an army of informers for the benefit of the two renegades
Fakhri and 'Aziz. The party came to be dominated by a school that
stood outside the norms of organizations, a school of how to bring
people down. The two renegades used this method, naturally, to divert
attention from their own personal degeneration. Finally Fakhri Karim
took possession of the Party's resources, bank accounts, and
propaganda institutions all of which he registered as his own personal
property, thereby entering the world of the broker and business agent.
The inevitable outcome of all of this was that he would ally himself
with America, finding it to be the best guardian of his personal
business interests. He visited Washington in 1991 and presented them
with a down payment in the form of a statement that he made on Voice
of America radio in which he asked George Bush (the father) to
intensify his embargo on the Iraqi people. As a result of enticement
and intimidation, a group of writers and literary figures belonging to
the Iraqi Communist Party gathered around him and cooperated with the
American Central Intelligence Agency in publishing a newspaper under
the title "Sawt al-Kuwayt ad-Dawli" ["The International Voice of
Kuwait"] which distorted the facts and was one of the most important
clarions heralding the 30-nation aggression against Iraq in 1991. It
was precisely this newspaper that published the theatrical story of
the young Kuwaiti girl Nuwayrah under the headline "The Iraqis steal
incubators from the children of Kuwait." As the battles raged, this
newspaper, which was edited by Iraqi Communists, printed stories under
giant masochistic headlines like "Coalition forces demolish Baghdad"
and "Allied aircraft exterminate Iraqi military formation near Basra."

When the scandals surrounding Fakhri Karim multiplied, he stepped
aside to allow the renegade Hamid Majid to take his place in the
secretariat of the Party. Since that time, the Party has openly taken
up work with America and against the Iraqi people. The Party newspaper
"Tariq ash-Sha'b" published an article in July 2002 that reported that
the Deputy Consul in the American Embassy in Damascus visited the
offices of the Iraqi Communist Party in Syria and discussed recent
developments with Party representatives. The Party's internal
publication, "Munadil al-Hizb" (in June 2002) reported on a special
meeting of the Party Central Committee to study how the Party would
take part in the coming events, which they termed "the liberation of
Iraq." During the invasion battles, the Party openly acknowledged that
it had fighters on the front lines together with the invasion forces.
In the last decade, the Party took upon itself the task of preparatory
propaganda for what the Anglo-Zionists termed preventive air strikes
on military targets during the period of the embargo. Hamid Majid
himself entered Iraq via Kuwait together with the American Army. Last
but not least, he has joined the Council of No-Accounts (the so-called
"Governing Council") which was declared and whose members were
appointed by the American Military Governor of Iraq. The first decree
of this Council was to declare the date of Baghdad's occupation to be
a national holiday. In addition, in order to secure his admission to
this Council of No-Accounts, Hamid Majid agreed to the conditions
imposed on him by the Military Governor, among the most important of
which are:

* That Hamid Majid must not represent the Communist Party but the
Shi'ite confessional community.
* That the Communist Party should reformulate its program and
internal rules so as to take out from them and from the Party's
publications, all references to "colonialism", "imperialism",
"national independence", "defense of the homeland", and any concept
that is related to these terms. In addition, Bremer must be referred
to as "Mr. Bremer" and the occupation authorities must be referred to
as the "Government of the Coalition".
* The Iraqi Communist Party must cooperate with the American Army
against Islamist and other "saboteurs" who are now bearing arms
against the occupation. The Party must immediately inform on any
suspects, and it must actively participate in maintaining security.
* No members of the Communist Party must carry any weapons unless
licensed to do so by the occupation and that they must undertake
patrols together with the occupation troops against the Iraqi people.
* The Party must work determinedly to reduce extremism among
Shi'ite Muslims - the Sadr and al-Khalisi Groups
* while on the other hand working to strengthen the currents of Baqir
al-Hakim and Bahr al-'Ulum.

The hands of
this right wing are stained with the blood of patriots from every part
of the world.
1968. In February 1963 the American Central Intelligence Agency took
over direction of the putschists, making use of a radio transmitter in
Jordan. This radio station broadcast the names and both the official
addresses of Communists and their secret hideouts, enabling the
putschists to execute them on the spot or to arrest them and torture
them to death.

The February 1963 coup was not its only bloody act. The American
Central Intelligence Agency planned the murder of a million martyrs in
Indonesia and of more than a million in Viet Nam in open genocide or
in the course of what even enemies of the Left have called a "dirty
war." This is to say nothing about the massacres in Chile, Nicaragua,
Afghanistan, and the 30-nation aggression against Iraq in 1991 and the
depleted uranium. And now America is occupying our country in
contravention of international law.

Fraternal Communists and Friends!

Our heroic Iraqi people and their courageous resistance fighters are
up to the task of expelling the occupation. But we appeal to you for
your solidarity with and support for the Iraqi people, not simply
because our cause is just, nor merely as a matter of principle, but so
that you may take part in this great event - the fall of America,
enemy of the peoples – which has begun today in Iraq.

The crime that the renegades in the leadership of the party have
committed is unpardonable. It inflicts damage on the entire Communist
movement in Iraq, in the Arab Homeland, and in the world. Neither
self-criticism nor apology at some later time will do any good in this
case. The Party Rules have rejected this behavior in legitimate
organizational ways, yet the gang of renegades has persisted in its
treasonous behavior tossing aside the history of the Party, its
potential, and the Party's struggle for which thousands of martyrs
have fallen.

Therefore we, the mass members of the Iraqi Communist Party and its
base, declare as follows:

* The Iraqi Communist Party does not abandon its well-known
national and worldwide goals in its struggle for peace, democracy, and
equality among peoples and nations. It does not abandon the goal that
it previously proclaimed among its unshakable national principles on
the level of domestic, national politics, and that goal is the
building of a socialist, democratic, and free society. But the current
situation is a situation of occupation, and armed national resistance
is the only means capable of crushing the occupier and driving him out
of Iraq. It is the highest form of struggle against the occupier.
Every goal that lies outside of the framework of the resistance must
be postponed until after liberation. We stand with the sons and
daughters of our people against the occupation and are committed to
the armed patriotic resistance. We support it whatever its religious
or political currents. For the first and basic aim now is to expel the
occupiers from Iraq.
* Any Communist who cooperates with the occupation under whatever
circumstances is charged with the greatest act of national treason!
* The behavior and actions of the current leadership of the Iraqi
Communist Party do not represent the Iraqi Communist Party or Iraqi
Patriots.
* We will not be frightened by idiotic accusations that we are
"advocating terrorism" or "anti-Semitic" or "supporting al-Qa'idah."
It is America that has declared war on the entire peace-loving world
without regard for international or divine law. Therefore we call upon
all opponents of America, and upon all opponents of invasion and the
colonization of peoples, to come to Iraq and to fight alongside their
brothers in the heroic Iraqi Resistance, or to give whatever they can
from wherever they are in their own countries in service to that goal!
* The Americans know which way the border is. So for their
departure let there be: No negotiations! No discussions! No agreements!
* We do not and will not accept any government under occupation,
nor any trusteeship under the United Nations! We do not and will not
accept any international forces on Iraqi territory for any reasons! We
are the ones who can guard our homeland's security, and we are the
ones who can construct its institutions!
* All energy must go to resisting the occupation, militarily in the
first place!

Disgrace and shame upon anyone who draws invaders against his homeland!

Glory to the courageous Iraqi people!

Glory to the peoples who love peace and liberation!

Glory to the world patriotic and Communist movement!
